Directions to Stradey Castle, Llanelli SA15 4PH

Stradey Castle lies between Furnace and Pwll on the western edge of Llanelli, less than 15 minutes’ drive from junction 48 on the M4. We are 10 minutes drive from the nearest Railway Station, with direct links to London Paddington. If you are using Satnav, please be aware that you may be taken straight past the entrance and in via a farm drive some way from the main house. To avoid this, look out for the Lodge (postcode SA15 4PH) and main entrance on the left, just beyond some new traffic lights, about half a mile along the B4308 coming up from the Furnace mini-roundabout.

Directions to Stradey Castle from the M4

From Junction 48 of the M4, turn left off the motorway slip road following signs to Llanelli along the A4138. Continue along this road (going straight at a series of small roundabouts) until you reach a major roundabout at Pemberton Retail Park with Morrisons on your left. At this roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A484 following signs for Llanelli Town Centre. Continue along this road (going straight at the Farmfoods roundabout) until you get to a roundabout with a Travelodge in front of you. Take the fourth exit right at this roundabout staying on the A484. Continue along this road and you will see the parish church ahead of you. Stay in the left hand lane as drive uphill past the parish church and follow the road around to the left following signs to Carmarthen A484. As you start to drive down the hill get into the right hand lane and take the exit right signposted to Carmarthen A484.

Having turned right continue along the A484 for approximately 250 metres before taking a right turn (with palm trees planted at the junction) onto New Road. Continue along this road until you get to a mini roundabout with the Stradey Arms pub on the left. Take the first exit left and continue along this road for about 800m to a new set of traffic lights. Continue past the traffic lights (which is the junction with Denham Avenue) and the entrance to Stradey Castle is 200m further along the road from the traffic lights on the left hand side.

Directions to Stradey Castle from Carmarthen

From the roundabout nearest Tesco Extra in Carmarthen take the A40 dual carriageway signposted to Llandeilo, Swansea and the M4. Continue along this dual carriageway to the next roundabout where you should take the third exit onto the A484 signposted to Llanelli. Continue along this road for 17 miles until you get to Pwll. You will pass Coleg Sir Gar college on your left then a red Murco petrol filling station on your right hand side. 50 metres after the Murco petrol filling station turn left at the mini roundabout onto Denham Avenue. Continue up Denham Avenue to the T junction at the top of the hill. Turn left at the T junction and the entrance to Stradey is 150 metres along the road on the left hand side.

Llanelli railway station is 2 miles from the House.

It is possible to land a helicopter on the field in front of the house with advance notice. The nearest private airport, www.pembreyairport.com, is 8 miles away.

Access

Please note: While full size coaches can’t come in through the main gates, 33 seater buses (ie around 11 m long) can do so with some ease.

Disabled Access

A wheelchair ramp is available for access to the ground floor of the house. At the moment, we don't have a designated disabled toilet.

The Terrace Garden is mostly accessible to wheelchairs on gravel paths, while the Wilderness Garden has level paths around and through it.
