Heritage Tours at Stradey Castle, Llanelli
Please note that regular, twice monthly Heritage Tours will end after 2019
Heritage Tours of Stradey Castle are one of the most popular 'things to do' in the Llanelli area. They allow you to visit Stradey Castle and learn all about its fascinating history. Stradey, which has been in the Mansel Lewis family for five generations, is one of the finest Mid-Victorian houses in South Wales. The House contains a fine collection of Victorian art collected by Charles William Mansel Lewis, who was himself a fine artist.
Heritage Tours will nearly always be conducted by the present owner – Patrick Mansel Lewis – and must be pre-booked (booking form below). During 2019, tours will be held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the Month between April and September with extra tours as advertised eg before Christmas. They will start at 2.30pm and last about one hour, followed by light refreshments in the dining room.
It is also possible to explore the large collection of trees and shrubs in the Woodland Garden, many of which favour the acid soil and mild climate to be found at Stradey. If you are particularly interested in visiting the garden, please let us know when you book. You should also bring appropriate footwear.
We advertise certain tours during the year as being particularly family orientated. Having said this, we we will try to make the tours interesting for children if we possibly can, and we know in advance that children will be coming.
